AMPPE Welcomes New Executive Director

Dear AMPPE Members,

It is with tremendous excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as your new Executive Director of the Association for Mountain Parks Protection and Enjoyment, effective May 4th.

For the past two and a half years, I have had the privilege of working with AMPPE through Global Public Affairs. I’ve seen firsthand the dedication of this organization, its board and its members in advocating for world-class visitor experience in our beloved mountain parks. I’m thrilled to now step fully into this role and work even more closely with all of you.

I bring experience from Global Public Affairs, where I had a proven track record of translating complex policy asks into actionable strategy and client advocacy wins. Previously, at The Conference Board of Canada (now Signal49 Research), I was focused on convening community and multi-stakeholder involvement in sustainability initiatives and major natural resource projects.

What truly drives me is my deep personal connection to these landscapes. As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I spend as much time as possible in the Canadian Rockies — hiking, skiing and camping. These places are not just parks to me; they are where I play, recharge and feel most at home.

I am remaining based in Calgary and have committed to being highly visible and accessible. Over the next three months I will be reaching out to meet with as many members and key stakeholders as possible, and I will be physically in market at a minimum every two weeks. I want to hear directly from you — your priorities, challenges, successes and ideas for the future of AMPPE.

I will bring an organized, efficient, and strategic approach to our work, drawing on experience across federal, provincial, and municipal levels of government. Together, we will continue advocating for sustainable access and enjoyment while protecting these extraordinary mountain parks for future generations.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly at cbrown@amppe.org. I look forward to meeting many of you in person very soon.

With appreciation and enthusiasm,

Colin Brown, M.A.
